It's taken longer than I wanted to get the new "Endless Sea" design printed, but that's because I've been in the process of finding a new t-shirt supplier. The good news is, I've officially found my favorite tee ever!

Seriously, these shirts are AMAZING!
• 100% organic cotton (eco-responsible and no chemicals used).
• Ultra soft, yet sturdy (and not too thin).
• Nice and long at the bottom (say no to crack).

I don't want Cross Your Heart to be limited to clothing. It's not about the clothing as much as the inspiration and message behind the art. So I've been playing with some of the designs and created some fun Phone wallpapers. They're perfect for the iPhone or iPod Touch or any other device with a cell phone sized background.

Winged Moto Sweat Shirts

It's a cool rainy winter day here in San Diego and I'm wearing my CYH Moto Sweat Shirt. I made this prototype when I printed the "Heart Inside" design and it's become my new favorite sweat shirt. I love the "vintage wash" style and the "moto style" seams and collar. It's also not too heavy, which is nice for everyday use.

I've also received a lot of comments from friends and family wanting to know when I'll make more. The problem is, this style of sweat shirt is too expensive to buy stock of and hope it sells. So we're gonna run a "pre-sale." I'm going to take orders for the next 2 weeks, no $ involved.

Mexico Trip

Just got back from Mexico where I spent the last week doing outreaches in different towns in Baja. It wasn't a part of Cross Your Heart but I really wanted to share it with everyone, and maybe CYH can be more involved in the future. It was an amazing trip, so much to tell that it would be much too long of a blog post, so I'll try to do it in pictures. This is the edited down group of pictures:

Day1: 3am left San Diego and arrived at La Posada 1 (the church plant in Rosarito) around 4am.

The bus. In all there were 14 of us. 7 from San Diego, 3 from Washington and 4 from Rosarito.

Then we headed over to La Posada 2 (the church plant there). They just finished the main building earlier this year.

After a worship and a service from pastor Jay, we stopped a little restaurant. Us drinking Manzanna soda (apple soda) my favorite drink in Mexico.

Beans... yummmm.

Papas Rellenas (Mexican stuffed potatoes). It's a baked potato with butter, cheese, meat, corn and all the other good extras you want. Sooo good.

Day 2: On our way back to La Posada before heading to Santa Rosalia.

Not sure what body fluids, but we almost needed it for the next part of the drive.

This road is called "Cuesta del infierno" (Highway to Hell). It's a very steep, very narrow highway down a rocky cliff that drops down into the Sea of Cortez. It's, at the same time, freaky and beautiful.

Victor is a pro at driving this road.

Pulling in to Santa Rosalia. A hurricane tore through this area eariler this summer, and the destruction is still very visible.

Victor tells us that there used to be a gas station here.

We arrive at our hotel. It was a beautiful hotel overlooking the Sea.

After unloading the at the hotel we went to the harbor at Santa Rosalia to set up for the first outreach.

After Palo Verde we had service at Pastor Fredie's church in San Burno.

After service we got on a boat and went over the the island of San Marcos (a small mining island just across from San Burno).

On the boat ride over we encountered some whale sharks, they got so close to the boat we could have touched them, it was amazing.

Day 4: Christina and Miguel from Rosarito ready to go.

First we went to pray over a mens home that pastor Ezekiel started to help recovering addicts. It was up on a hill in Sanata Rosalia.

After that we had some time to walk through the town and get lunch. Found a little cart selling seafood, some of the best and freshest seafood I've ever had.

We had a little time to check out the beach before the outreach begain.

Day 5: San Ignacio.
This awesome little town in the middle of the desert has a natural spring creating an oasis.

Of course the first thing we had to do was get lunch. This is my fish, shrip and clam platter.

Jelacio and I were the only ones who actually walked down to the lake. It was a long walk so we took a nap while waiting for the bus to come back.

After leaving San Ignacio we went to the little town of Bonfil and set up for our last outreach.

Chester and I started a game of frisbee with the kids.

After the outreach... more food at the church in Bonfil. Fish machaca and hand made tortillas.

Day 6: The last 2 days we got to relax a little on the Pacific side of Baja in a little beach outpost called Camp Rene.

It happened to be Kims Birthday so Victor's brother Daniel made her a cake out of sweet rolls and frosting.

And of course were in Mexico so we had to have a pinata.

Day 7: our last "non-traviling" day, more time to hang out on the beach.

The water was so beautiful and you could walk out forever and only be up to you knees.

Found a huge clam.

This guy wanted to spar with me, but I'm a lover not a fighter.

Later that afternoon we all went down to the water to baptize Lisa.

One last shot of the amazing beach before packing up to head home.

Day 8: I didn't really take any pictures as we left at 3am to head home. Needless to say I slept most of the way back.

In all it was an abosultely amazing trip. Telling people the truth about God, Jesus and His love is something truley pure which can only bring joy. I know my eyes were opened and I gained wisdom, strength and great friendships. I encourge anyone who gets the opportunity to do something like this to not hesitate and get out there!

CYH in Mexico

Tonight/tomorrow at 3am I will be heading down to Mexico for 8 days. A group of about 9 other people from my church and I are going down to serve and outreach to some of the smaller towns on the Baja Peninsula. I'm really excited to get out there and help any way I can. We're going pretty far down Baja, much further than I've ever gone. First to a town called Vizcaino, about 8 hours south of the border, then from there we will traveling around to neighboring towns to and even one island, serving at small church plants and doing outreaches.

I circled the area where we'll be, at the bottom of this map. I'll do a complete blog write up of the trip when I return, but please keep me in your thoughts and prayers. It's gonna be a lot of driving through the desert but I'm excited to see a part of the world I've never seen before.

Oh, and all CYH orders will be put on Hold untill I return. Thanks.

Justice Day on Saturday was awesome, thanks to everyone who came. Check out some pictures on our Facebook page . It was good to get out there meet new people and spread the word about CYH. More than that though, it was great seeing all the other charities and missions that exist to help others. It's always very inspirational meeting and talking to the people putting their lives out there for the sake of others. I wanted to share some of the organizations I learned about with you:

Generate Hope:
Similar to Hidden Treasures, Generate Hope exists to help victims of human trafficking but their focus is on providing dedicated housing and a comprehensive recovery program for women and girls, ages eighteen to thirty who have been sexually exploited and/or trafficked. Basically creating a safe place for these victims to recover and learn. Find out more at: www.generatehope.org

Plant with Purpose:
Helps poor rural farmers, who are completely dependent on their environment, practice sustainable development. Check it out: plantwithpurpose.org

Breaking Chains:
Fighting at street level for the lives of helpless children in Latin America. breakingchains.ning.com

Reduce world poverty by increasing the knowledge and use of Fair Trade in San Diego. fairtradesd.org

These were just some of the great causes repersented on Saturday. Hopefully this becomes a yearly event and if you didn't make it this year I hope to see you next year.

Heart Inside now Available

Finished printing Heart Inside last night and I'm really happy with how they turned out. The two-tone gray on black looks awesome, and I added a small logo detail on the back which really finishes it off. They're on sale now

For this design I printed a new slim-fit girls tee, which is a little longer with shorter sleeves and a wider neck. I heard that's what the women want, so I aim to please. Each shirt style now has a sizing chart in the image gallery so you can see exactly what size they are (just FYI, these slim fit tees run a little small so I suggest getting one size larger than you would with a regular tee).

Unfortunately the Men's XL were out of stock and are on back order, I'll update you when they're ready. But we do have Men's XXL for all the designs now.

New Website!

Since I Started Cross Your Heart back in May, It's been operating with a temporary website that really only served as a splash page to the blog and store. Well today that's all changed. Thanks to my cousin Ryan, we developed a home for CYH. It's still a simple site but now includes info on all our events, what shirts we use, the causes we support and more. New Design - Heart Inside

I'm really excited to announce this new design. I've been working on it, on and off, for months and it's finally ready. It's called "Heart Inside."

People who know me, know I'm sick of seeing skulls on t-shirts. In the last 10 years "skulls" have been beaten to death on apparel, seems like you can't walk down the street without seeing them on every other person. The problem is, any time a subject is this trendy and overused there's going to be a lot of really bad ones. Well this is my answer to that.

Yes it's a skull, but I wanted to not only do a very stylized skull but also make it positive in nature, instead of the typical "dark and scary death skull."

The concept behind this one is that it's what's inside a person that makes up who they are, in their heart and soul. It's about looking beneath our flesh, down to our bones.

I'm in the process of getting these printed and plan on having them ready by the end of the month and premiering them on October 31st at Justice day which CYH is helping to sponsor.

I'll keep you posted and let you know when they're ready.

Oh October how I love thee, let me count the ways...

So October is here and I almost forgot how much I love it. First off it's my birthday month, so that automatically makes it awesome (I'll be accepting cash all month). Secondly, the weather is cooling down, I was going to go crazy if I saw another 90 degree sunny day (I know - wah wah, but perfect weather everyday gets old I needed some variation).

So if that wasn't enough, as I was going to my office this morning I noticed all the streets were blocked off, what could this be I thought? Then I remembered, it's Octoberfest! the whole street is blocked off for 5 blocks, and lined with food vendors and random trinkets. So instead of eating my boring lunch today, as usual, I'll be having a jucy brautwurst! Come join me and celebrate the awesomeness that is October.

One thing I wanted to make sure I did with the CYH project is be very open with every aspect of the project, and that includes the $. I want every CYH customer to know exactly where their money is going and how much is being raised.

As you know, right now CYH proceeds are helping the Hidden Treasures ministry, in a great effort to help sex trafficked women and children here in San Diego. So I just want to thank everyone who's supported CYH in these first months and let everyone know that we've raised $340 so far. It may not seem like a lot but it goes a long way with this ministry. Hidden Treasures not only provides the programs to get the girls off the street but they help with all the other needs involved with rescuing these women, such as; hotel rooms to get them away from toxic environments, food, clothing, bus passes to get them to their supports groups, pre-paid cell phones so they can call if they run into trouble and many other things.

So thanks again to everyone, $340 is good pretty good for a first donation, especially since we only started this project a couple months ago. Can't wait to see what God has in store for the future of CYH.

Hidden Treasures

As you probably know the main goal of Cross Your Heart Clothing is to create clothing that has a purpose and a cause. So I've been putting a lot of thought and prayer into who CYH will support first. I want it to be a local organization, it has to be something that CYH can get personally involved in (not just blindly giving money). It has to be something where a little bit of money can go a long way. And finally it needs to be a cause that really effects people directly.

Well that said, I'm excited to announce the first ministry that CYH will be involved with. It's call Hidden Treasures, here's what they're all about:

Mission: Hidden Treasures exists in order to rescue and restore women and children victimized by sex slavery and the human trafficking industry.

Vision: That each person victimized by sex slavery and human trafficking will come to an understanding of who they are to themselves and in Christ...Treasures.
"The kingdom of heaven is like treasure hidden in a field. When a man found it, he hid it again, and then in his joy went and sold all he had and bought that field. Matthew 13:44 (NIV)

Purpose: Hidden Treasures rescues victims and provides an aftercare program of restoration for their lives. The victims receive spiritual, emotional, physical and social healing in a program centered around the saving grace and healing power of a relationship with Jesus Christ.

I'm very excited to see how God will use CYH and Hidden Treasures. I also wanted to thank everyone who has purchased a CYH shirt already. I'll keep everyone updated as we get more involved in this ministry.

Special Edition Shirt Design and Art Show

Recently Cross Your Heart was invited to be a part of the "Visions from a Perfected City" art show put on by Harbor Art. It's an art show featuring 20 different San Diego artists and their interpretations of a "perfected city."

So for the show I designed a limited edition shirt. The concept behind the shirt is that we need to respect and love all the different areas a San Diego. I took pictures of signs from all over San Diego and used them to spell out the classic "I heart city name" motif. Of course in this case, "I Heart San Diego."

And as a CYH shirt, all proceeds will go to charities and missions that help improve San Diego.

The big art show opening and reception is this Saturday the 8th. Its free and open to everyone, there will be music, food and art, so please come support CYH and all the local San Diego artists. Bring your friends and family, it will be a great time. Here's your official invitation:

Justice Day

Sorry it's been a little while since I've posted, but that just means I've been busy working on CYH.

There's a couple really exciting things brewing right now. The most important thing of course is connecting with the first charity/mission, more to come on that soon. But I wanted to announce that CYH is going to hook up with a cool event called Justice Day. This event is being created to help inform people of the human injustices that are happening here in the U.S., like homelessness and human trafficking (a huge problem in San Diego). There are many honorable thing's in the world but we often forget to address issues right in our own back yard. Justice Day is an all day festival; bringing in vendors, local organizations in our county, food, music, activities, skate events and more, to raise awareness of these issues. read more here.

New design printed and ready

I finally finished printing the new "Love Grows" design and they came out great! It took me a little longer than I wanted because of the tricky way the design flows onto the back of the shirt. I had to create a special insert to lift the back of the shirt to get a level printing surface. But they're all done now and avalable online. Not only are the new shirts extremely soft but I used water-based inks so the ink is really soft too, you can't even feel the ink when you run your hands over it.

I also reprinted the First Edition shirt. Now in charcoal gray and white. Also now online.
And you can get both these shirts in Women's and Men's sizes S - XL. The Women's sizes are just a little smaller overall a with shorter sleves and sholders and a slightly wider neck. Here's a illustration on how they differ:
I'm now getting the word out and working on the first charity. I also took the shirts to our first event, it's a youth event with over 2,000 Jr high and high school kids that started on Wednesday and ends today. So for we've had a pretty good response, but I'll do a full update later.
